I had a horrible experience with West Virginia Supporrt Enforcement over arrearages they claimed I owed. It ended up costing me around $5,000.00 in attorneys fees over a simple issue that could and should have been cleared up with a simple phone call or two, if someone in their office would have been willing to speak to me. They were so sure they had caught a "dead beat dad" that they couldn't wait to burn me at the stake. With me living in another state it was more cost effective for me to agree on a settlement with the mother of my childern than to continue to throw money at an attorney.

I raised my oldest son as a single father. When I was awarded custody in 1982, the judge refused to order child support because I am a man. This in spite of the mother claiming to earn $25-30k a year, a fair amount of money at that time.

I currently have sole custody of my two young daughters and am raising them as a single father. However, I am happy to say that support is set appropriately this time, only because we avoided the courts and Support Enforcement as much as possible.
